WD My Paspport Read/Write Speed

My name is Rohit. I recently bought a WD My Passport 2 TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive. When I reached home I plugged it into my USB 2.0 port and tried copying to and from the hard drive and the both the speeds are approximately 30 mbps. I also tried it with my friend's PC and there also same speed but I have seen in YouTube people getting 100 mbps in USB 2.0 and WD claims their hard drive can reach upto 480 mbps in usb 2.0. Is my speeds normal ?
My sysyem configurations are : Intel Core i5 CPU, 4 GB Ram, ATI graphics and HGST Hard drive. My computer is a laptop and its model is Dell Inspiron N5010. Kindly help me in this case.

Are you sure you are not mixing MB /s and mbit / s ?

Because 30 MB /s is 240 mbit /s which sounds quite normal for USB2.

The 480 mbit / s is the theoretical maximum of the USB2 bus, with all the control communication if you get to half that you are usually doing pretty good already. Plus laptop hard drives are not known for their speed so it may be that your computer cant load the data faster from the internal hard drive.

They Claim 480 Mbps on usb 2.0
And you Get 30MBps on usb 2.0
While coping windows measures speed in MBps Which is ''Mega Bytes per second''
But WD is Claiming 480Mbps Not ''MBps''
Smaller ''b'' Stands for bits
larger Stands for Bytes
1byte = 8bits
so, 480Mbps Means
480/8 Bytes That is 60MBps
You Are Getting 30MBps
it means Your Harddisk is of 5400-7200 rpm, So thats normal
