i just bought a gaming rig and it was built when shipped
so i just need to connect it to the sockets and run

im having
intel i7 3930k
asus sabertooth x79
nvdia geforce gtx 680 2gb
corsair vengeance 32gb

i was running my computer side by side with my friend's laptop
he's was a lenovo laptop with i7 3630qm, 8gb, 800tb hdd

somehow it seem that his laptop works faster (i can see the difference clearly, not just a quarter sec slower on doing some task )

can anyone please explain this ? and is there any suggestion id need to do to my rig ? or any optimization recommendation?

Well based off the information provided and looking at the Lenovo site laptop specs I would assume your friends laptop has a hybrid hard drive or some sort of SSD drive to go along with a standard laptop drive. So yes with the SSD applications will load much faster than your desktop assuming you do not have a a similar configuration. So you could either get an SSD to install your OS on... Get a hybrid drive of your own to install your OS on or get a SSD cache drive which basically turns your existing configuration into a hybrid system without re-installing anything. Either way the difference has to be the SSD in the laptop.
