Looking at creating the below HTPC. After much research I decided that HTPC and NAS all in one is not practical so here goes. The HTPC will be for large blue ray files, HDTV recording and games, there will also be a NAS in the background for smaller files (i.e. TV shows, music, photos) which can stream to mobiles/tablets. GPU has been left off for now as has any larger HDDs (to be added at a later date). The case was chosen due to fit and expandability.

Specs I'm looking at:

Western Digital WD Green 2TB WD20EZRX
$99.00

Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB SSD
$109.00

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with SP1 OEM
$109.00

Shintaro Wireless Media Center Keyboard
$45.00

ASRock Z87E-ITX Mini ITX Motherboard
$169.00

Intel Core i3 4340
$179.00

Pioneer BDR-208DBKS 15X Blu-Ray Disc Writer OEM
$85.00

Silverstone FP37 Black USB 3.0 Card Reader
$39.00

Silverstone LC17 Black USB 3.0
$119.00

Hauppauge HVR-2210 Media Centre Kit
$179.00

Kingston ValueRAM KVR13N9S8/4G (1x4GB) DDR3
$45.00

A couple of questions:

- Can anyone see any savings? It will be high end but if I can save here and there it would be good
- The only reason I threw in Windows 7 is for HDTV tuner/remote compatibility, has anyone had experience with Linux and tuners/remotes?
