Hi,

I am going to purchase below hardware very soon. Let me know if I have made right decisions about components:

CPU: AMD A10-6800k
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88X Extreme6+
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2x8GB (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10)

also, what is the best SMPS for above. Anything that I should know, you are welcome to advise. I would greatly appreciate.

I've never built on an MSI board so I have no personal feedback there. You need two ram modules for dual channel operation (best) and, in most cases the modules will go in alternating slots but your motherboard manual will show which slots are best to use for your ram configuration (what slots to use if one, two, three or four modules are used) - I've been building PC's for over 20 years and I rely on the motherboard's manual heavily during the build.
If contemplating two different boards, here's what I've come to do... download the manuals for both boards - read through them (yes, it is a lot of effort) - there's likely something about one of them that is more appealing to you than the other and you are more likely to find that in the...

Hi C12Friedman,

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not that much good with hardware so just want to confirm if I have made the right deal. I am more into software and what I need is the best configuration to fulfill my virtualization requirements

ok..what are your thoughts on MSI FM2-A85xa-G43 vs ASRock FM2A88X Extreme6+. What is the best. Also, for RAM 2x8GB or 16GB ? I read somewhere that you should have 2 x nGB instead of one and you should place them in alternate slots for best performance. Also, how much more RAM can I have with AMD A10-6800k ?

As an example, my newest build will be on a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H, I just ordered the board a few days ago but I've read the manual at least 3 times - I'll have it next to me as I do the build also

thanks for the clarification. You got equal experience to my age :D. one last question..how much ram can I have with AMD A10-6800k or should I consider getting higher range processor as my main purpose it to host virtualization environment.
