Hi, I'm building my first build in a NZXT Phantom, with a 8350fx. I was sure about the Sapphire 7970 for a while until the 280x's came out. I've got my eyes on the Gigabyte 280x, my question is, if I were to buy a 280x, would gigabyte be the right choice, and if not, from 300-330 dollars, what other GPU's do you guys recommend?

Solution
It's not always about clock speeds. There are many factors too. Why do you want to overclock ? you won't really see a big difference in your games and furthermore , you could decreade the life span of your parts.

SLI / Crossfire isn't a good idea. There are many issues with them. Maybe you would succeed maybe you won't.

Just stick with the GTX 780. You most probabky can max out every game. no point doing crossfire / SLI .

I live in the US, sorry I didn't specify, yes, USD.

Here's my system:

Processor-AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card (Unsure) ???

NZXT Phantom (Gunmetal) ATX Full Tower Case

EVGA SuperNOVA 750W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

All adds up to around 1250$

Any thoughts on my other components? Perhaps if I'm cheaping out on something important, or spending on something unnecessary?

I like that setup.. I mean, yea, I'll overclock, why not.. I think I'll stick to what I've made already, though.. I'm planning on crossifiring the card, so a 500$ card isn't really an option. Back to the 280x, would gigabyte be my best bet? Its cooler, and clock speeds are attractive.. The Sapph toxic is a little out of my price range. What say you, Iron?
