Help,ram problem.Did i get hassled?

I had 1 gb ddr2 ram in my notebook(emachines d525).Today i went to put one more stick of 1gb ram. It was hard to find it, but finally i found the shop.I was really in a hurry so i didn't check anything.

Now when i checked back home it says i have only 1.5gb ram. I checked on windows task manager(total 1,499,916),on crucial.com it says i have 1gb and other stick 512mb,on dxdiag it says 1,49gb ram and on control panel/system it also shows 1.49ram. Was i hassled(if i had i'll go back to shop tommorow) or is that usual for ddr2 ram? Also, i have windows xp sp3 32bit.

More about ram problem hassled
  1. id say someone at the shop messed up. it seems to be recognizing both sticks and it would definitely be unusual for only half the ram from a recognized stick to be recognized in this scenario

If someone didn't messed it up the only other option is that someone did it on purpose(didn't had 1gb so he thought he could give me 512mb without my notice?)

It does appear that you were given the wrong ram module (on purpose or not I can't say but...). You do want a 1GB module (I assume), I'd go back and exchange it - you might check your receipt to see if you were charged for a 1GB module (or if it says) you may also want to check the label on the module to see if it doesn't claim to be 1GB (could be a faulty module)
  4. Thanks guys,i'll go back tommorow. Just wanted to check here first if i maybe missed something. Even if it doesn't show full usable 2gb ram it has to be close to it,but definitely not only 1.5gb
