What motherboard with a Intel chipset would be the most future-proof to use with a Intel CPU?

I decided to upgrade my PC. To be precise, the CPU as well as the motherboard. After doing some research I decided that a AMD processor wouldn't be a good investment as it has so many cores, which most programs won't even use. So I decided to go on a epic quest (that's what it seems like) and choose a Intel CPU and a motherboard with a Intel chipset.

CPU wise, it was quite a easy choice - If i'd go with Ivy Bridge then Intel Core i5 3470 or Intel Core i5 3570K and with Haswell... I didn't really get to research that yet, but something around the £150 mark. Probably a i5-4670k

Then, I checked what chipsets work with each of the Ivy Bridge processors and they were all the same, but there are like 8 of them - which gives birth to a question - what motherboard with what chipset to buy? I looked at some options, but it seemed like the CPU that I would be buying for it was the highest (or quite close) the chipset could support - not really future proof. And so then I decided to look for Haswells. First off - a lot more expensive, but the chipsets seemed like they support CPUs from £50 to like £300 - quite good as my CPU budget is ~£150. Definitely room for upgrade in the future.

My question is - should I go with Haswell or Ivy Bridge? Also, what chipset would be the most future proof? Motherboard wise, I know what to get but it's the chipsets...

One last point: I don't care about overclocking and I'm probably not going to do it in the near future. I use my PC mainly for gaming.

Thanks for taking your time to read this and I hope someone can help! Anything is appreciated!
