New ASUS laptop blank screen

Hi,
I recently bought a new ASUS X551CA-5X024H laptop and the screen is just blank but I can see the curser. I have hardly had the chance to use it.

Any advice, would be appreciated, I'm not a very techi person

Thanks for the reply.

Don't get how the hard drive could be dead when it's new. Yeah it's under warranty and has insurance. Don't totally know what rms is, never mind how to do it.

That's a standard problem with hard drives. For cost reasons a hard drive gets tested for some minutes before it gets shipped. There is a risk that it fails very soon.
