What's the difference between Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Pro?

I am getting a new OS and am wondering what the differences were.

More about difference windows windows pro
  1. with the Pro version the three main differences are:

    1) a system running Pro you can join a Domain
    2) Pro comes with Bitlocker which allows you to encrypt your drive(s)
    3) if the system is running PRO, you can Remote Desktop into that computer

    3) Connect to company networks with domain join

Okay thank you. I guess it's really not something I would EVER use.

  4. He wasnt talking about windows rt lol he was talking about windows 8.1 for desktops and laptops x86 and x64 not ARM
  5. I understand that if a desktop has 8.1 non pro version you cant rdp into it BUT can you rdp from a 8.1 non pro PC into a PC that does have pro loaded on it like win 7 pro?
  6. Honestly to save $100 I'd just get 8.1, but I got 8.1 Pro for free.

No, RDP is not supported in either direction.

With 8.1 you can RDP into a 8.1 pro system. 8.1 can act as the client. 8.1 pro can act as the client and the host. I'm not sure about going from client 8.1 into a win 7 pro host.
