Hello everyone. I recently built a $350 gaming computer using an AMD A10 5800K APU. The APU is advertised as running at 3.8 GHz and it is supposed to be overclocked to 4.2 GHz using some kind of Turbo Core feature. When I check the clock speeds using CPU-Z, it indicates that the processor is only running at 3.8 GHz, and 4.0 GHz when gaming. My question is, how do I get it to run at 4.2 GHz? I want to get the most for my money out of this processor, so I want it to run at its advertised speed of 4.2 GHz if possible. Thank you!

I believe the 4.2ghz is the max turbo. in the latest AMd CPU/APu's they dont have cores as such, they have modules. each module has two 'cores' inside of it. on the 5800k there is 4 cores and 2 modules. i think 4.2ghz is for one module in turbo and the 4.0ghz is for both modules in turbo. so when all cores are being used it will go at 4.0ghz and if the application doesnt support 4 cores then it will use 2 but at a higher clockspeed of 4.2. Hope that makes sense. if you want it to run at 4.2ghz it can probably be done with overclocking depending on your motherboard.
