Gtx 680 vs radeon 7990

I am in the middle of building a new pc i am struggling to chose between 680 sli or 7990 they cost about the same, what would be better.

Because of issues with the 7990 such as coil whine, micro stutter, poor scaling, and driver issues I would recommend the 680s, now, what are you going to be doing with this build because there might be an even better solution here as well.

What is your budget, and how many monitors are you going to use? The problem is you might buy too much hardware that wont be used.

Budget is around the 350-400 mark and gonna use as many are possible, just want to build a beast that would do anything lol

In that case the 680s might work the best then. 780s are a bit too much. But a single 680 runs for about 400 bucks.

A 7970 GHz Edition was proven multiple times by Tom's Hardware to run faster and better than a 680. If a 7970 can do that what do you think about the 7990?

7990 has proven itself to be trouble ridden and a card to stay away from. And SLI is much more capable than crossfire, as well as Physx.

Have you considered looking at 770 SLI instead of the 680's?
They are faster and around the same price
