will a fx-6300 bottleneck 7850 2gb ?

Solution
The 6300 should do 4.1Ghz with a good cooler quite easy. I have an AMD 8320 3.5Ghz overclocked to 4Ghz with no problems whatsoever.
I hope you enjoy your gaming on your set up:)

Do you NEED an i5? no
Would an i5 be better? yes

Not that big of a difference though. Certainly not noticeable. You can overclock the FX 6300 alot. It comes in way cheaper than any i5. That extra money saved could go towards a better video card.

There is always some kind of bottleneck, either CPU or GPU but that is a good match and will game well. I have been using an AMD 7850 for a year and it's served me well. I started gaming on it with an AMD FX4100 and still had good framerates. The AMD FX6300 is a good value CPU and with a good cooler overclocks like a dream

technically, yes, overclocking does shorten the lifespan of a cpu

in practice, i have never seen a cpu die. motherboard components have a considerably shorter lifespan than cpus. by the time an overclocked cpu, properly cooled and overclocked, runs its life it would be next to useless an worthless anyway.

just be sure you do your research before embarking into the world of overclocking
