Does the onboard effect performance of an external card?

Hey guys, I currently have a GTX 760 external card and an onboard Intel graphics display. In my BIOS I have my Primary output set to Onboard instead of PCIe, I boot up and use DOS from the onboard output then after the windows logo it switches over to my 760.

Now the problem is when i go into my properties in my computer it says i have 4GB but only 3.71 Usable. I'm guessing because of the shared 256mb of memory being used by the onboard.

So the question is, Is the onboard effecting my performance at all in gaming? I have it set up this way because i've had issues using PCIE as default in BIOS.

Just wondering if anyone has a knowledge of this..

Shouldn't affect Gaming performance to much, but man you have a weird setup, the general idea is: put gpu in mobo, happily play games on your amazing pc

Maybe bandwidth on connectors is to low for gpu?
