Is this much RAM sufficient enough for this APU?

I am currently constructing an inexpensive computer build just under $500. A couple of components include an AMD A10-6800K APU and a G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB DDR3 1866 RAM. Throughout my research I have been informed that an APU is heavily memory dependent and requires at least an 8GB RAM for the APU to run at its optimized potential in a gaming environment. Is this statement true or am I able to run the APU with just 4GB RAM in a moderate to semi-intensive gaming load?

Thank you for the suggestion, but would I be fine with just 4GB of RAM? With the price of memory nowadays I don't really want to spend much on memory. I forgot to mention this but I don't play component intensive games such as Battlefield 3 or Skyrim. At most I play titles such as Napoleon Total War along with the occasional World of Tanks.
