So my friend recently asked me if my processor was a dual-core processor and suggested that I should turn on the 2nd core for better performance. After I've done that, my computer now always freeze during the account sign in menu. I can't sign in fast enough to get to the desktop and turn it off. I can however stay on the BIOS setup for as long as I want to. I've had to take out the CMOS battery from the motherboard to try and reset the processor settings but that won't work either. If anyone can help me, I'd deeply appreciate it.

Solution
how did you turn on the second core? do you mean you turned on both cores for windows boot?hope not because it doesnt look like you can even get to desktop. have you gone into your bios to see options for enabling and disabling cores? post your system specs as well.
