Greetings,
I have the following build

i7 4770k ( no OC )
Asus Maximum VI Impact
16GB RAM Kingston HyperX Blue
256GB SSD Samsung Pro 840

Lian LI PC-Q25B case :
Scythe Kozuti for CPU fan, 800-3200 RPM
Scythe Slip Stream for Top fan, 500 RPM fixed
Default 140mm Front fan 500-100 RPM

Last night I stress tested my CPU to check the high temps I've been getting.

These are the temps 30 mins in.

My CPU temps will idle at about 44C ( silent profile ).
My gaming temps are around 65-75C.

However, the stress test temps are with Lian Li's default top fan that runs at 1500 RPM fixed.
I get about 6C higher with the current 500 RPM fan 10 mins in the test.

I reapplied thermal paste and reseated the heatsink.
What else can I do to lower the temperature? Is this normal? Anything else I should be looking at?

I am also worried about temp spikes, for example when gaming, a temp spike can send my CPU up to 95C for a second or two, then back down to 70C.

Please give me advice.

Edit - Please note I am using Haswell's integrated graphics. Could this contribute to higher temps?

The integrated graphics will cause additional heat to be generated. That and the heatsink you have should equal out to the temperatures you're seeing. 80-85C isn't bad for stress testing, and gaming at 65-75C isn't bad either. As for spikes, I wouldn't worry about them. You should be fine, but if you want better performance you should get a better cooler.

Thank you for your reply.
I have no idea about SFF coolers ( I picked the one I have right now completely randomly, I now wonder how I actually managed to pick one that fits ). Will do some research. If you have any recommendations, my case can hold a fan of up to 80mm height.

Also, do you have any links that explain how/why the integrated graphics will cause additional heat?

Thank you.

I personally couldn't help much with the air cooling, not my forte. That saiud your CPU generates more heat with the iGPU because it has to do the visual processing in addition to the computing all on the same chip. More processing means more heat.

What case do you have so we can recommend a cooler
