Hi Folks

I recently have purchased a new wireless router, the D-Link DIR 845L to replace my existing wireless router so that I could take advantage of the 5Ghz band for improved HD video streaming. Long story short, ever since I have connected this new router, my internet connection has been randomly dropping several times per day.

To explain my setup.

I have an existing router (yes, it is a router) provided by my internet provider. My new wireless router is connected to the existing router via ethernet.. not on the WAN port.. just the regular LAN port. I have (I think) configured my wireless router to simply act as a wireless AP by turning off DHCP and manually assigning an IP address within the range issued by the telco's router. Everything works fine and dandy for a while, then for no reason what soever, the internet stops working. I am unable to hit the telco router at the default address of 192.168.2.1, and I am forced to do a hard reset to bring the internet back. Sometimes this happens up to 10 times per say, some days not at all. I'm at a lost to explain what is going on here, since when I plug my old Dlink wireless router in, the internet is rock solid for months at a time.

I'm hoping that somebody out there can help me shed some light on this.

Thanks

I think it would be fine to leave the dhcp enabled on the second router. try that.
