I have 4 memory modules in my Dell Optiplex 620 Mini Tower for a total of 2 GB Ram at 4 512MB sticks each.

My question is can I upgrade the 4 512 MB sticks or rather take them out and replace them with sticks of ram that are 1GB each in the 4 slots in the PC?

If you are talking about the OptiPlex GX620 adn using the 64-bit OS, and yes you can. The PC can install up to 4 X1 GB DDR2 PC2-5300 (non-ecc). If you use the 32-bit then you may only see 3.5GB or 3GB RAM.
