I got an issue with a guy that bought my old monitor.

The monitor is about 2,5 - 3 years old and worked fine before I sold it to him.

Its a Medion Akoya P56001

The guy decided to pick it up at my place for 100 euros. (After I upgraded to Eyefinity)

He said he trusted me and I said to him it was working fine.

After about a week and a half he contacted me saying the monitor doesnt work as intended.

When I unplugged the screen it was working fine.

(Altho he has not seen it working im 110% sure it worked fine when he picked it up)

What do you guys think...? He wants me to re-pay him or fine a solution..

My idea is: The monitor left my house whilst it was still working.. and now after he moved it.. it died..

Thanks in advance!

Is there anyone who can testify that the monitor was working when or just before you gave it to him? If yes then I don't see how his claim that its not working, can be any more credible than your claim that it works.

In that case there's nothing he can do to legally force you to refund the 100 euros or repair it for him.

edit: for all I know he could have bought the monitor thinking that his previous one had failed, when it was his video card or something else that failed instead. If you feel it's the right thing to do, you could bring over a portable device (like a laptop) with a VGA/DVI cable to try and prove it's working. Worst thing that could happen is that he had second thoughts and deliberately damaged the monitor to claim his...

I don't know about Europe but here in the USA a private sale is a private sale (and as-is). At least in California. If he has a beef, and if it is under a warranty he needs to talk to the manufacturer. If he didn't test it before he bought it (or didn't see it was working, maybe you could have made a video or something showing it work) then that really is HIS bad. Tell 'em it's his and it was working when money changed hands.

Well he said he 'couldnt' test it before-hand..

But the most annoying thing is that he responds to my mails / messages every 3-5 days or so..

It is already out of warranty.. neither I have the purchase-paper

If you fail to prove it works, he could coerce you to return the money or fix it for him.
