hello, i've checked various forums regarding my situation but none have really given me a good answer, some say a missing screw won't do much, some say it can.
the thing is i have a pretty heavy cpu heatsink (hyper 412s) i think it's called.
and because it's pretty heavy and the screw directly above the heatsink is missing i'm concerned that it might bend the motherboard. i've tried pusing the motherboard a little against the standoff and there is a slight gap from the mounting hole and the motherboard, a couple millimeters tops.
so my question is: should i be worried about this bending my motherboard in the long run? or is that unlikely? if it could, should i take a screw from the left middle of the motherboard (near the 24pin) and put it at the top instead? or try and ask the company i bought it from to send me a new screw? although i think it's unlikely that they will.
all and all i have 7/8 screws on at the moment.
currently using a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 and a corsair 300r midi tower, if that matters.

Solution
Buy a screw or use one from another PC, they cost nothing and i DO HIGHLY recommend adding that screw considering your cooler.

Cant find such a screw? go to a PC store they will give you one for free lol!:p

It shouldnt matter indeed, but for the couple of cents...why the worries!.

Hi, for piece of mind i would use one of the middle screws to be on the top. it probably will be fine. but if you can spread the weight then thats gotta be better.

Hope this helps :)

Never touch middle screws, GPU's are heavy as well, the middle is too important to even risk it. That would just create a bigger risk considering the fact that you could worsen the connection with a PCI-e slot.

When PC is under stress its always best not to underestimate the heat and flexibility that comes with it.

No problem anytime, i got a bend GPU....case fault something with the screw... so i can understand your stress here and it is well placed.

Anyways if you have found your solution please pick one (green button underneath every post).

Nice sabertooth btw! wish i got that one instead lol.

dragging up an old post. my computer is booting up, fans etc, but no display on monitor, no mouse or keyboards power but power to my wireless adapter in same USB port. i have just put my MOBO in a new case, i lost 1 screw for the mobo to go in to the mounting screw. will this be the cause? can i just removed the mounting screw? its right next to another so wont make a difference.

Should be fine to remove the mounting screw, alternatively go buy a new one.
My friend had the same problem with the monitor and keyboard, his solution was to unplug everything inside the pc and put it back in, so I guess maybe try that and make sure that everything is plugged in correctly from the psu.
