just wondering can the r9 290x be used with PCI-E 2.0 or does it have to be PCI-E 3.0 and also could you cross fire it with PCI-E 2.0

Solution
the only thing u should know that any mobo which have pci e slot can run any pcie 1.0 or 2.0 or 3.0 cards easily but the difference is relatively different
and it depends on ur rest of sys requirement for i7 mobo can support 3.0 and fx 8350 mobo didnt have any 3.0 slot but that dosent mean thta fx 8350 can not run card itself bcos i7 perform better just because intel cpus are capable to run gpu cards at full efficiently and give u more 2 or 3 fps above as compare to fx 8350 but still it depends on ur rest of system req

look to get the best and full power of your GPU u need PCI-E-3 16x with just pci-e2 u get some of the preformance but i think u got old motherboard u want to mount on the r290 .... i don't recommend that at all u might get bottle necks conflects and alot of bad staff

get a new board with pci-E 3 and mount the card on it
