Hey guys,

I have changed my mine and instead of buying a pre-built pc, I am looking to build one. But I personally have no experience in picking the best parts for what I want to play. I will put all the information I think you need to know

My budget is about £500-£600
I would prefer an Intel cpu but I will go amd if I need to.
I am looking to play dayz, arma 3, bf4, iss, and games of that nature, I really don't care is I play on high or low, as long as I get playable frames
I already have a dvd drive, so I don't need one. I have windows 7, a keyboard, mouse and a monitor so I do not need any of them,I also live in England. (Would also love it if someone could link me to a good part putting together guide)

I am really sorry if I don't respond fast, as I am using my phone and the internet is horrible,

Many thanks
-Patrick

Hi. So, for 600£, it's about 959.52 US Dollars. I'll just do the specs with US Dollars. So, for around that, we can get you playing on at least high in BF4. If you can play high in BF4, you should be able to handle high on most other games as well including Arma III. The GTX 770 has epic performance. Only reason I'm going with the AMD FX 8320 is because it's better for gaming than the intel CPU's at that price. But if you go into the 300$ range you will sell better performance in Intels processors for the most part.

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/20Eiz
Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/20Eiz/by_merchant/
Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/20Eiz/benchmarks/

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor ($158.98 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H90 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($94.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($72.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($327.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan ($16.98 @ OutletPC)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($48.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $865.89
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I didn't include a case, because thats really up to you. I left you around 100$ for that. Otherwise, it's a really solid build. You should have minimum lag when gaming.

Hey thanks for the reply, seeing as this is going to be my 1st build I don't really want to go with a closed loop water cooler unless really nececary, and would much prefer the stock or a air cooler (preferably something with thermal paste already applyed) as I know for sure I am not overclocking

Thanks again

For my first build, I used the same cooler. It may sound confusing, but really you just screw in the radiator on the top of your case with 4 screws. You then just screw the block on the CPU with 4 thumb screws evenly on each side. It's really simple, and it looks great.

Hey i'm on my main comp now, I put this build together, Just wondering if its decent and will run what i need it to run, this is the lower end of my budget which is good for me

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/20JsT

I personally think it is pretty decent, And again, I really dont want an aftermarket cpu cooler, if i do want to OC further down the road, I can always buy one then.

Alright. I'd at least buy a cheap air cooler. The cooler your CPU is, the Longer it'll last.

And the build looks good besides the PSU and the HDD. That HDD has large failure rates. The PSU is also not one of Corsairs best. Go for Corsairs RM, AX, HX or XFX.

Keep in mind that prices are different in England so using the Pound to Dollar conversion for US part prices isn't always accurate, so it's better to use the uk part picker

for 600 pounds the best I could do is:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£83.99 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£23.98 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 EXTREME4 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£69.56 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory (£57.98 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£43.90 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card (£226.46 @ Dabs)
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case (£38.65 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply (£54.68 @ Dabs)
Total: £599.20

imo, getting an FX 6300 and overclocking it is enough performance, and in most games it'll perform pretty much the same as the FX 8320 on stock, and higher when overclocked, not many games can fully utilize the 8 cores atm, 6 cores are plenty, so it's better to downgrade that 8320 to a 6300 and get a cooler with the money.

the R9 280x is a beast of a GPU and will definitely play the games you want and more, if you want to save 30-50 pounds off the budget (since I noticed you want to get as close to 500 as possible), then go for a HD 7950 instead, it'll give you really good performance for about 180 pounds I believe.

cheapest 770 on the uk parts picker is 250 pounds, I wouldn't be able to match the 600 pound price point without getting rid of or downgrading something

If he really wants an Nvidia card, he can go for something like this:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor (£107.99 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£50.36 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory (£57.98 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£43.90 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card (£249.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case (£38.65 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply (£48.02 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £596.89

This just becomes his 2nd build but with a better video card, slightly worse mobo, and slower memory

no overclocking at first, he'll have to save up the money for another time, or he can get a mATX board and save another 10 to 20, though I'm not too familiar with those so I can't exactly recommend one

Edit: sorry, didn't see that you weren't overclocking your CPU, if that's the case then go with this build, and switch out the motherboard for a mini-ATX one with good reviews, it should be cheaper than the MSI here

Very nice build. He should go with that, just change out the PSU for an XFX (Same price)

This, it'll take a few years before games will require eight cores.
