Safe temperatures hd 7850

I recently replaced my gpu and power supply.

When gaming the hd 7850 sapphire that I installed goes up to 80C and holds steady at 80c. I know that most benchmarks say that the card should go up to 70C when gaming, so my temperatures are a little high.

What I am wondering: is 80C safe for me to game with or should I be worried?

Any input would be most welcome.

Depending on room temp, load, cooling, and OCing 80C may be normal. As for damaging the card I wouldn't worry until 90C

use msi afterburner make the fans spin up to max at 60c. it called a fan profile. with the cards firmware and drivers sometime the fans wont max out and give you high temps.

Wow, thank you both for the fast responses. I will definitely try out msi afterburner. I will keep watching its performance for now.

Update: So I played around with the msi and have it set to hit 100% at 80C. The default only had 100% at 100C which is kind of shocking.

The card still holds its temp at 80C but now it gradually gets to that stage. Before, within 5 min of starting a game it went to 80C, now it held at 65-70 for about 20 min. So a definite improvement. Thank you all for the input.

80c is just fine if its maximum - a bit high but not a concern.

If it consistently exceeds 85c then I would try to improve case cooling.
