x8 for single card question.

My single card will be running at x8 because my PCIe SSD will be running at x4, in the last slot. I think this is the case, hopefully not. My motherboard will be ASUS Maximus VI Formula.

My question is, if my video card does run at x8, will there be a drop in performance?

It's too late. I guess I could send it back when it comes. Not sure if I should. GTX690 Is starting to be bottlenecked in some games in the x8 slot. Most I seen was a 10fps drop in some games.

I contacted ASUS and a couple people said I could use the ssd in x16 slot and still get 16x performance for gpu. One said they were unable to confirm until the engineer from taiwan gets back. Stupid me didn't ask the guy to email me his response. One guy said they had PCIe ssd cards in their computer and video cards ran at x16.

Thanks for that. It makes more sense now.
