I5 2400k -- unparking the cores

Hey guys,

I've been reading some posts about having better performance playing demanding games such as Battlefield 4 after having all CPU Cores unparked. There is information about it all over the internet but I don't want to change anything before checking with people that actually know how it works.

So here are my questions:

-- Are there any risks or damages that can be caused after disabling parking?

-- Can I have the parking disabled just by changing my power settings on Windows 7 or the registry change is the only way to do it?

Thanks in advance folks!

Hey,

I do not believe that their is any risk associated with unparking cores - you'll just use abit more electricity when they're not in use.
Also, before you go trying to unpark your cores, check to make sure that they are actually parked.
It depends on the system, sometimes (like in my case) it won't park your cores at all, other times you have to force it with a regedit. I'd try changing power settings to see if that does anything, and if it doesn't then do the regedit.

Hope this helps :)

Really appreciate the attention given by all of you. I'll perform the changes and test the apps you've recommended. Once I confirm that there is parking while running demanding applications and do all the suggested above I will be back here to show the results and probably help more people with similar cases. Thank you all!

Guys, turns out that after chaging my Power Settings to High Performance and also using an option on my Bios that increases performance too (an ASUS turbo mode) could have done the job. I´ve tested it on BF4 and checked the resource monitor, all 4 cores are having massive utilization (90%) and none of them were showing up as "parked". I think there´s nothing else I can do to improve the CPU performance without OC but I appreaciate the attention and help provided.
