I have just recently built my computer and everything is working just fine except the screen will randomly turn white, black, or red. It has not turned black in a week or two but still goes white and red. Im assuming that it is something with the graphics card as my computer is still working when the screen fails. I skype a lot and it continues running for a few seconds after the screen goes and then it turns off, however, which further confuses me. Please send me any advice.

Computer Specs-
AMD FX-8320
Asus m5a97 r2.o motherboard
Hive-750 750 watt Rosewill PSU
8gb Corsair ram
Western Digital 1 Tb Hard drive
R7870 Ghz edition gpu

Hi, I had gone a few days without any issue of my computer crashing but it has just recently gone to a yellow screen with vertical lines and a minute ago to a grey screen. The problem was not the monitor. So im guessing it wouldnt be my cable which is a dvi, right? Would u have any other suggestions?

unfortunately no. i have noticed that the computer seems to be crashing when i have not used it for a bit and then i load something up and it just blanks out on me. i let some music play while i was doing homework for about 30 or so minutes and reloaded a page then it crashed. another time i was downloading a game and came back to install it and soon after i pressed install it crashed. hibernation shouldnt be a factor though because it is set for a long time. do u think this has to do with a mistake in installing windows 7?

I don't think that. Does it give any reasons as to why it crashes?

nope it just freezes up and i have to restart it. the weird thing is that it hasnt crashed while i play a game for long periods of time. i have a feeling it does pertain to not using the computer for a bit and then loading something up. i was just watching netflix for about 30 minutes and loaded this forum page and it crashed

Well something is definitely going wrong and from what it sounds like it is a software issue. Oooooor... a bad harddrive..
