So I'm planning on building a computer for no more than $800. I was wondering if, for the price, the 7950 was better than the 280x, or vice versa. I'm looking for price to performance, also will a fx 8320 bottleneck the graphics card or is it fine?
If your main purpose for this system is gaming, you'll want to spend most of your budget on the graphics card, and go for the 280X. The FX 8320 has plenty of power to not bottleneck anything, no need to worry. As for price/performance, that'll depend on which particular card you get and the purchase price of the card. You may find some crazy deals on Newegg or NCIX for Black Friday.

No bottleneck at all. Also I think OP talked about 7950
R9 280x is more powerfull than 7950 and the money difference is not that big ( ~20$ ). So I suggest R9 280x.

Lol $20 is way off. I looked on pcpartpicker and the 280X was $329. I might be able to find a good deal on Black Friday but it is challenging since I live in Canada. Now how much better is the 280X percentage wise? If it's a lot for about 15% I do not think it's worth it. My budget is $800 and this card adds a little extra.

Well sorry, I didn't know that you cause I found on newegg r9 280x for like 299$ but the shipping will do the trick :S . Also were I live thats pretty much the difference .
ummm... you can find 7950's for like $180 but i havent seen a 280x for less than $280 or 7970's for less than $260. as far as price performance ratio.... at $180 for a 7950, for the money... far better deal. actually i saw a 7870LE for $150 the other week and if you crossfire 2 7870LE's... at that price of $300... you would beat a 780ti/290x but would have to deal with the heat, power consumption, and crossfire issues.
