Windows could not format a partition and bootmgr not found - Windows 7 Installation issues

Hello,

So i've built a home PC which is just for general movies and work etc. The build was successful but when it came to installing the Windows 7 Professional 64 bit operating system. There had seemed to be an issue after issue. The first issue I had got was that Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. I tried doing it on disk 1 but still the same. I could not delete the disk 0 partition as when I clicked delete, it would not delete. So after doing some research on my iPhone, I came across a person saying it could be the sata cable. I changed the sata cable and then came along the next problem.

The next problem was that once I had changed the sata cable, I was getting "bootmgr not found - ctrl-alt-del to restart." So i've changed the sata cable to all the sata ports that were on the motherboard and there has been no joy. Everything just seems to not work when installing the operating system.

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 320GB 8MB cache

Anyone experienced this and knows the solution, please leave a reply below :)

Lord! You don't know the half of it.

Did you re-install Windows?

I bet you didn't delete all the partitions when you got to the screen where you can choose the target partition for the O/S though, did you?

You should select 'Advanced' on that screen, delete ALL partitions on the drive and create a new single partition and allocate all the space to it.

Don't bother with 'Format', Windows will take care of it when it creates an extra system partition.

And go ahead with the rest of the installation.

This is the first time installation. I'll try what you said and i'll see if that works.

I've deleted all the partitions on the hard drive, it got stuck on "completing installation" Restarted the computer and did a startup repair. It said that my hard disk is failing so it cannot be installed.

Sending my hard drive back and thanks for the answer you suggested, it worked :)
