Couple of months back I had a problem where my computer was making an annoying sound down by the psu. I figured maybe my psu was going so I bought a new one.

Problem is it still does it, not all the time but it does it, I'd say maybe 3-4 days a week. Only way to stop it is to unplug or hit the power switch on the psu. I took a video with my phone where you can hear it, it only comes from the bottom back of my pc. That's why I assumed the psu.

It's driving me nuts not being able to figure it out. I've taken it to a computer specialist and they had it on all day with no sound.

Not really a whine im trying to get the vid uploaded somwhere to post. Its more like a white noise, like a running current even though everything is off.

I usally stop it by hitting the switch and leaving it completely off for a few hours, and sometimes it does it even when I havent put the PC on. I heard possibly the HD but my HD is up front and the noise is in back. Just having a problem getting the stupid video off phone.

Sounds like a wasps nest lol.

Alright, some potential solutions I've found:
+Try plugging the PC into a different outlet/socket
+You may have a loose screw or you PSU may be sitting unevenly, causing vibrations

A thread that may help:

So it could also be an indication of the PSU failing or bad wiring in your house (doubt the latter). You could always try to RMA the part if you're not satisfied.

Lol I know it drives me crazy, and really I wouldn't be Suprised if it was bad wiring, used to shock me a lot but not so much now. Never thought of the screw thing but my old psu was never touched had the pc about three years before that noise started.

You know now that I think about it, this sound started after I increased my ram and added a better video card. Could either of those lead to this sound?

Next time it does it is moving it upstairs to see if it does it. And thank you for that post, never would of thought of checking my mother board for a problem.
