What is the model of the Mac you are trying to use this drive on? If it is one of the ones listed here - http://eshop.macsales.com/Descriptions/apldwu10p5.html you shouldn't need a driver for the drive to be recognized. Is this a newly installed drive or one that has worked in the past but suddenly stopped working? I searched the Sony site but could not find that particular model.
