Ordering the parts for my rig. Chances of hardware failure?

I'm ordering all my parts from newegg to build my rig. I live in Ecuador and I'm having people bring the stuff down. I'm doing this because hardware/electronics cost double here what they cost in the US.

What I'm wondering is what are the chances that I get some of these parts DOA?

I'm spending my entire budget on this, and if a part doesn't work, I can't get a refund, being in Ecuador. Also, it's all my money for this project, so I'll have to wait till I get more before ordering a replacement part.

I'm wondering if ordering these parts is a bad idea. Maybe going with a laptop is better, no?

That's the thing, they're moving down here, which means if they were to send it back they'd have to pay shipping.

Oh well then what is your budget? NCIX PC builder has some custom PCs that they build and you can buy.

My budget is $850 with the OS included. Right now my rig will be running an AMD FX6300 and an Asus Radeon R9 270x.

That's a pretty sweet laptop. Games on it look pretty good too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxXr02sd_ak

What I don't like is that it has no disk drive, the processor only has 2 cores, and it's refurbished. A lot of people are complaining about the space bar not working very well in the reviews, among a few other things. One guy bought and returned 3 of them with defects until he finally, grudgingly accepted the fourth. Then again, there's just no pleasing some people, though his complaints sounded warranted.

This is a tempting buy, still. How did you find this? I've looked on newegg again and again and I can never find anything near that good, especially anything that looks hardcore with that thickness and those fan vents in the back!

That laptop is only $699. I've got $850. Do you think you could maybe find something a little better?

He would probably want to buy a 6-cell battery after because the life on the Y500 is about 2 and a half hours.
