Question about DIY NAS Box

I am looking to make a custom DIY NAT Box out of an old Desktop PC I have. The computer is a Dell Dimension 8400. Its has an Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz with 3GB RAM. I recently purchased a couple 1TB 3.5" HDDs off Craigslist and was going to use than in either a JBOD or RAID 0 environment in this build. Unfortunately, I forgot the Ethernet port was blown out after a lightning strike several years ago so I've had to use a USB WiFi Adapter to hit the internet (back when I was running an operating system on it).

So my question is, with this being such an old desktop I don't want to waste the money buying a new motherboard just for the Ethernet port. Is there any way I can use this desktop as a NAS Box without using the Ethernet port? Or is there a possible way to fix the Ethernet port without buying a new motherboard?

Solution
You should be able to purchase a simple and cheap PCI or PCI-Express add-in card for a single or dual ethernet gigabit ports. This will be much better suited for NAS network traffic than utilizing wireless equipment.

Sorry, I'm pretty new to this whole thing, computer building itself, and still learning the ropes.

So would this work? Or do I need to shell out a little more for something of quality?

And another question, once I install this I doesn't require any drivers correct? It will automatically recognize the ethernet plug if I try to install and run FreeNas?
