Best Gaming Intel Processor Under $400?

As stated in the title, I would like to know what Intel processor I should purchase. I would like to play games that require power like Battlefield, Assassin's Creed, etc. I want an adequate processor within the $400 or below price range. Additionally, I'd like to add that i don't want my Processor holding back my Video Card.

i5-4670k is a great option for just over $200.

i7-4770k at $300 is another good choice if you want to future-proof and are willing to pay the premium. You will, however, likely not see a significant performance gain over the i5 in 99% of today's games.

Haswell/LGA 1550 is the way, i5 is perfect, i7 are also perfect but overkill because of the price. If you are planning on OCing ( althought you won't need it for gaming purposes ) then go for the 'k' series, otherwise you stick with the normal ones.
BUT, haswell is a bit tricky cause it has some heating problems so you are gonna need proper airflow and a non-stock cooler. I won't go to liquid cooling cause its kinda expensive but I can make some suggestions:

Very good quality at a low price :
CM 212 EVO

High end quality but more expensive:
NOCTUA NH-D14
Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme
