Hi.

I'm in a super tight budget a and running a Dell optiplex 755 (bought refurbished), which comes with a Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00 Ghz, 4Gb of RAM and a GT 520, with a 305W PSU. I also put an SSD because I needed that for work.

The GPU started to act up so a friend offered me his 4850 since he wasn't using it any more. So I took the offer and paid for overseas shipping.

I squeezed in to buy a £2 cable, molex to pci, and was determined to try with my stock PSU nevertheless. It was the wrong cable though, as my PSU has all sata and no molex. So no joy.

Anyway, I am trying to find a way of getting a PSU that will run this system ok. No high end brands for sure. I did look for stuff like Alpine or Evo Labs but I'm only seeing horror stories about them. Is there anything in between the super high end expensive brans and these fire haphazards? Really, something up to £20 would be great.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Thanks. I was really hopeful there would be something between the £14 ones and the £35 ones. I feel bad because I don't have the money, and I'm investing in a system that cost £120 total a couple of years ago.

At least I hope this XFX one will still be useful shall I upgrade my system one day. Although I think I should upgrade CPU first, and I'm not sure my MOBO holds a better CPU; which means changing the MOBO, and then... well, maybe the case will have to go. So maybe a new system would be best/cheaper, and it'll come with a PSU anyway...
