It's model number is Psktcu-ok101s. It hasn't worked in like 6 months you hit the power button you can hear the fan come on and then off that's it. Today I tried it and it turned on let me log in went to the home screen and moments later went black again. Then when I hit power nothing happened. Then I unplugged it rep lugged it in and it again booted up the fan then off again.

I've had the same issue with my Toshiba Satellite P765 (I think that's the model) before.
I brought it in to get someone to look at it and they said the motherboard was fried.

Well that depends on whether or not the laptop is of any importance to you. If you don't fix it, it won't work at all. So if you need the laptop, yes it is worth fixing.

A common laptop problem by users is the days, weeks, months, years of leaving THE BATTERY IN THE LAPTOP WHILE IT IS POWERED BY A WALL OUTLET. This causes a OVERCHARGE and kills the battery overtime till a situation like this occurs (and the battery doesn't hold a charge really anymore). Remove the power plug, remove the battery. Let sit for 10 minutes. Plug power back in, does the laptop work WITHOUT the battery in? If so battery is causing it to fail because the battery is now 'bad'. If not (aka even with no battery the power plugged in) then either A) the port your plugging the power into is 'broken' that will fail when your move or tap the keyboard B) the mother board /powersupply is dying.
Either case good news: Dont' waste any money on it, head to walmart and pick up a nice simple new laptop for only $299.
