Hi All,

I am currently on HD5870 and I would like to upgrade my GPU

Other components:
Intel 2700k
ASUS P8z68-V PRO
Intel SSD 520
Seasonic X-750
8GB Kingston 1600Mhz
Samsung Syncmaster 245B+: 1920 x 1200px

I am occasional gamer, I would like to try some new games like Crysis 3, Metro Last Light, etc.
My primary need is to have a QUIET but powerfull built.

Q1: Wouldnt my components bottlenecking the GPU (680 or 770) - in terms of PCIE 2.0?
Q2: I would like to have PhysX option and change to nvidia, but I have never experienced it on my own. Is it worth it? I suppose AMD is now better in terms of price / value ratio.
Q3: I have an option to have GTX 680 DCII-TOP for 250€ (1yr OLD, 2yrs of warranty left) or 770GTX brand new for the 290€. Is the 770 worth it?
Q4: Last alternative: Shouldnt I wait for the price drop of GTX 780? Is there a relevant difference between the 680/770 and 780. Wouldnt my rig bottleneck the 780?

Many thank for all of your advices.

Hey there firstly you won't have a bottle neck with your system, even with the 2.0 the bandwidth hasn't been exceeded, you won't really notice a performance difference using a pci-e 3.0 card.
You can always overclock that 2700K of yours to give your gpu more juice.

I would personally spend that little bit more and get the GTX 770 over the second hand GTX 680. The 770 is faster and will last you longer.

Your rig won't bottle neck a 780 either , but who knows if there is going to be another price drop , the 700 will play anything you throw at it.

As for phys-x it always comes down to the games you play and if you want the extra effects it gives you.

Grab the 770 you won't be disapointed
