Q9650 overclock with G41

i'm going to buy this cpu but i would like to overclock it to extreme like 4.somewhat GHZ. my question is will my asus g41 mobo will do that for me ?btw i overclocked 2.2 core2duo to 2.6

That is one of the better G41 chipset motherboards running DDR3 memory, you should be able to overclock it quite well, but the end results are not guaranteed.

I don't think you'll even find a 2500K today unless it's on E-bay or used, you need to rethink that idea and the 2500K is an 1155 M/B, 1150 M/B is the Intel Haswell platform.

The FX 6300 is a good CPU as well, but no matter the platform you choose and upgrade will be at least the CPU & M/B.

The Q9650 is an unlocked multiplier CPU, so if you have the proper cooling for the CPU, 4ghz may very well be possible but you'll just have to go for it and see, there are no guarantees.

Sorry my bad it was the QX9650 that had the unlocked multiplier, but you can still overclock the FSB and with the proper cooling should get at least to 3.8ghz and maybe possibly reach 4ghz?

There were more than 1 model of G41 chip set motherboards released by ASUS so the exact model # of the motherboard you have would help answering your question?

sorry my bad my mobo is P5P41T LE hey should i spend more and get a i5 2500k or just get a Q9560 and overclock it btw if i get a i5 i have to spend extra to buy a new lga 1150 mobo. thanks and is amd fx series good for gaming ? FX 6300 is really cheap
