Ok. So I'm currently doing research on what motherboard and CPU to buy. My motherboard got screwed when the Corsair hydro h50 cooler leaked for some unknown reason and sadly I can't find another LGA 1366 motherboard. Currently I'm looking for the best setup to support a Dual graphics card SLI setup. Something to future proof it a bit. Also something that won't cause a bottleneck if I had to use 2 780 ti's or similar cards. In 2 years time I'm guessing your mid range cards will be at this level of performance if not higher.

I've looked at the LGA 2011 system. Best SLI capability etc but rather expensive and overkill for gaming. It's a nice to have but a lot of the performance on it is wasted.

I prefer intel above AMD for obvious reasons. Wish AMD could level the playing field a bit. But for now Intel is what I'm looking at.

Can you guys please give me some tips in choosing a motherboard and CPU. Is the x16/x16 worth it yet or is x8/x8 still similar in performance.

This is for 1080p gaming and maybe 4k res gaming within the next 2 years.

Also Keep in mind future games etc for the next 3 to 5 years. If more games are released with performance heavy requirements like Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3 wouldn't the x16/x16 be a safer option etc?

I'm currently running 2 GTX 660's but will most likely upgrade them within the next year or two.

Thanks
