Hi all,

I have a PC with foll. Specs:

AMD A4 APU
Gigabyte A55M-DS2
XFX Raedeon HD 6450 - 2GB DDR3
Kingston KVR1333D3S8N9/2G - 2GB 1333MHz RAM
Hitoshi 1TB HDD
Omega Power Supply 800W

I wanted to upgrade my RAM with a 4GB stick running along with my 2GB stick

I bought a Kingston 4GB RAM (KVR13N9S8/4). When this RAM is installed in my PC along side the preexisting 2GB stick the system boots up completely. But when started opening programs it froze. tried it byitself in both slots and wouldn't boot up completely keeps freezing. Went back to the computer store got it exchanged.

When the exchanged 4GB stick is installed by itself the system boots I here the beep but then when opening programs it freezes when the windows 7 boot screen comes up worse than before. I tried it in both slots available and got the same result.

Can you please help me with this issue. Also I have few questions below:
1. Will my system support the Kingston 4GB KVR13N9S8/4 RAM
2. Will it work in conjunction with my 2GB KVR1333D3S8N9/2G

Solution
First thing to do (as always when having an issue) is update to the most recent bios for your computer, Next try putting the 4gb stick closest to the CPU and the 2gb stick in the slot next to it (not the same colored slot as you can't have dual channel with mixed sizes). Set the timings to 9-9-9-27-2 and Dram voltage to 1.55~1.59 and see if that fixes anything, if not run Memtest on the 4gb stick and see if perhaps it has issues.

Thanks for the suggestion updated the bios and all is well so far though never needed to make any other changes. Also only have 2 ports available for RAM to be placed in, Will this pose any future issues?
