Hey guys, I'm in the market for a sound card and I'm having a hard time deciding between three. I've picked out the ASUS Essence STX, Creative Titanium HD, and the HT Omega Claro Halo. I'm going to be using Audio Technica M50 headphones and I will be listening to music, watching movies, and playing games. Which of these would be the best choice for me? Thanks in advance!

I will say the ATH-M50's sound really good on my Xense, which is the soundcard one model below the STX. Be aware they did take about 20 hours to break in and really start sounding good though.

As for the Halo, I simply have a hard time recommending it over the STX. The STX is a better card based on the same chipset. Not that the Halo is bad, but unless you can get it cheaper then the STX, there's no point.

Same logic applies to the Titanium HD.

The Creative Soundblaster ZxR has better specs then the STX, and uses a newer chipset. Might want to take a look at that as well.

I've seen the ZxR but it's a bit out of my price range. I'm seriously considering the STX but I've read that it has compitiblity issues with Windows 8.1 which is what I'm running. I've also been looking at an external DAC like the Audioengine D1 which is the same price as the STX. To me, the STX appears to be better, but I'm far from an expert in this. D1 or STX? Thanks for the reply.
