I have a packard bell computer and it turns on. However, it makes a beep sound every 2 minutes and nothing comes up on the desktop screen. It will show a sign which says "power saving mode" then it goes black again. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem please? Any help will be much appreciated.

At this early stage it has to be an educated guess, but it's probably the graphics adapter on the motherboard that's gone kaput. You can easily check that by installing a PCI graphics card and plugging the monitor signal cable into that.
