I just built a new comp and am getting ready to start installing my OS and what not. I am a little confused with the instructions and what to do. any help would be greatly appreciated.

OS : XP SP3
Mobo: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
Manual: Pg 118
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM3+/M5A97_LE_R2.0/E8047_M5A97_LE_R2.pdf

I'm confused by what they mean with the USB floppy disk and floppy disk. At first I thought they meant a USB flash drive but now I am not sure.
I understand what to do with it once made. But could someone please put in dumby terms how to create the RAID driver disk I need?
Let me know if you need more info from me.

In that case, you do not need to worry about any instructions in there that talk about RAID.

Ignore them and move on.

AHCI driver
for SATA support. I did buy and connect everything that way.

ASUS AMD R2.0 Series SATA Mode Notice
The SATA6G_1-4 and SATA6G_5-6 connectors of this motherboard are set to AHCI mode by default to enhance the SATA performance.
For Windows XP os, load the AMD AHCI 32/64 bit WinXP Driver with a USB floppy disk drive during the OS installation. Refer to the section of Creating a RAID driver disk in your motherboard user manual for details.

Installing AHCI driver in Windows XP
To install the AHCI driver in Windows XP
1. During the OS installation, the system prompts you to press the F6 key to install third-party SCSI or RAID driver.
2. Press F6 and insert the floppy disk with the AHCI driver into the floppy disk drive.
3. When prompted to select the SCSI adapter to install ensure that you select AMD Compatiable RAID Controller - x86/x64 platform.
4. Follow the succeeding screen instructions to complete the installation.
