Buy the EVGA 780 ti or wait for ACX Cooling?

Solution
You should be able to overclock without any problems. However you can save some money if you wait for some custom cooling solutions to come out. They usually dramatically drop the price of the stock card (and by that I mean a about $20-$30).

I've got 2 reference cards in SLI overclocked to 1280mhz with no temp issues when playing bf4 on ultra settings for long periods of time. Never had an ACX card but the reference coolers work just fine for me.

I'm glad for you, but if the version with the ACX performed better and is less noisy at the same time don't you think that's worth waiting a few weeks?

I do know that 1280MHz is possible, but also that fan noise does increase. It's not annoying to some, but I detest fan noise. And again, he has the option of the ACX cooler soon.

I doubt overclocking much beyond 1280MHz with an ACX cooler is possible (or at least a good idea). Personally, I'd probably do a more conservative overclock of 1150MHz even with the ACX cooler in part for stability as well as the longevity of the GPU as any transistor-based device wears out proportionally to how much you overclock.
