My windows 7 64 bit system shuts down Randomly only while while it is idle. The power supply,
memory, processor, hard drive have been tested and they seem to be fine. I am having an issue with my video drivers. I can play games with no problem. Video card drivers will sometimes fail then come back on Computer is set to not sleep or Hibernate. It will sometimes shut off after a long time . Sometimes short. Could it be the Video Drivers?

I believe so. It turns off, that is the computer and monitor. No screen warning. When I turn it back on there I no screen prompt to start windows normally. I also get the notice from iexplorer tha my browing session ended abruptly if ie had been open. I also forgot one time only while my computer was at idle the pwm heatsink began to race at full speed for no apparent reason. I checked my cpu temps and they were fine. i restarted and it hasn't happened since that i know of.

I believe I also shut down hibernate through command line and set it to never sleep in power options

Is there a setting in BIOS the allows you to set the temperature limit for the CPU, etc.?

If the system is set to respond to reaching that limit by shutting down, it may be that the temperature settings are a little low.

Have you ever tweaked such settings?

Perhaps resetting CMOS can fix this. What are the temperature limits set at?

temp limits were set to 80 degrees centigrade I believe. Maybe 85.
I'll check again.

And set it to restart rather than shut down if you can.

If this doesn't change the behaviour of the machine when it crashes, then we can rule out these BIOS settings as the problem.

Thanks All for your help. I think the problem has been solved. I replaced the power supply with a modular one ,since that was something I wanted to do any way. Then My computer still shut off on me. Also it would not sleep or hibernate properly. So before I did an Rma on the Motherboard I reflashed the bios and now My problems seemed to be solved. Thanks.

No, I reflashed the bios and it did not solve my problem. So, I replaced
the motherboard. Now the problem is solved.

It is me again , so now it is not necessarily solved . It started again. My other Machines don't do this. I have tried
the software angle. I have checked all the hardwre . there are no temp problems. Please can someone Help?
