A. No reason for you to overclock with that budget
B. Should we factor Windows into your budget?

You won't necessarily be able to play new games if you're going to be buying a 300-400 pc w/o windows. Here is a build that I just finished that will run most new games on ultra settings at 1080p. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/21w0t
Amazing graphics card for the price. This is the best you can get for a 500 gaming pc. If you don't have money for an operating system then you could just install Ubuntu until you have enough money for windows.

Robax definitely showed you a solid build, but this one is better for a few reasons-
A. One terabyte HDD over a 500GB HDD
B. The CPU is pretty much superior in every way
C. the cases- NZXT- 4x120mm fans VS Rosewill- 2x120mm fans
NZXT- USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 VS Rosewill- USB 2.0
NZXT-8 x 3.5' • 3 x 5.25' VS Rosewill 7 x 3.5' • 3 x 5.25' Robax, your build is definitely a solid one, I just wanted to point out the advantages that this setup brings :D

Do mean, can this setup play any game, ever made, in the history of the world? I would say no, simply because some games have outrageous specification requirements. However, I'm pretty confident that at-least 90% of all modern games can be played on this computer, but you might have to use low graphics. I recommended Win7 because almost everyone on TH hates Win8, but Windows 8 should work fine. I'm actually running it on my laptop, and I like it more then Windows 7.
