I am currently running an Ubuntu system however I am going to school online and required Microsoft office for my assignments. I want to do a second internal hard drive with windows 7 on it and was wondering how i would go about this. I have an online source where I can get the program for cheap and just download it is this possible or will I need to have install disks to do this type of install?

More about : ubuntu windows hard drive install

Actually you got me confused, what do you want to do exactly ! 1. Want to install Win 7 on a second HDD by downloading it, or 2. Want to install MS Office on Win 7 OS by downloading it ?

You can download an ISO image HERE that you can burn to a CD or DVD. All you need is a valid product key.

Sorry for the confusion I have an Ubuntu system. I want to install windows 7 by downloading it to a second HDD. I need to do this so I can install office and use it. Ubuntu will not allow me to use office and my school requires it for all of my classes. This way I can boot to my Ubuntu system or to my Microsoft system by changing the boot order.

Ok, now this is clear to me. Download WIN 7 from your trusted source.

If the downloaded file is in .ISO format then you can make it bootable with the help of this tool, and you can have the guide on how to as well :

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.H...

You can make a bootable DVD ( you will require a blank DVD) or you can make a bootable USB (you will need a USB stick of 4GB).

When you are all ready for installing Windows, just unplug the Drive with Ubuntu. After the process is over, plug the drive back(Ubuntu).

Now you would be able to install MS Office in Win 7.

If you would face a problem with dual boot, that you want to boot to Ubuntu but you cant find it when PC boots or vice versa, then here is a tool for you : http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/

And here is guide for how to do it, if you got stuck :

Good luck.
