I have a DELL 17R N7110 with a Toshiba MK6475GSX 640 Gb Hard Drive. The Drive I believe is SATA2 at 3Gb / sec . I am wondering if i can get the full benefit of a Samsung 840EVO or if my Motherboard is SATA2?

Solution
It only supports SATA II :( Sorry. The Samsung EVO would be crippled badly being forced to run that slowly, however it would still be faster than your Toshiba, just not as much faster as it could've been with SATA 3.

yes i agree with the post above, it will be "slower", but, a slow ssd is still way faster than a mechanical drive.
i also have an old ssd, sata2, but it is still fast.
besides, in everyday use, i doubt if most of us can see the difference between sata2 and sata3 on ssd unless we bench.
