Hello I'm working on building out a new system for the first time. It's my first build, so any pointers and suggestions are highly appreciated:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/21upN

CPU Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing
Motherboard MSI Z87-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Wireless Network Adapter Netgear A6200-100NAS 802.11a/b/g/n/ac USB 2.0
Case NZXT Phantom (White) ATX Full Tower
Power Supply EVGA 750W ATX12V / EPS12V
Optical Drive Pioneer BDR-208DBK Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
Monitor Asus VS238H-P 23.0"

If I'm not mistaken the graphics card right now is the bottleneck. This is the most I can afford at the moment, and I figured I'd get a beefy cpu and power supply and go for dual graphics cards in the future. Any and all input is welcome.

Edit: Also I already have windows and peripherals and am purchasing arctic silver 5 thermal compound. A SSD is also on my future shopping list.

Solution
Well, cooling shouldn't effect your lag unless your temps are really hot and some cores have to automatically shut down, but that shouldn't be an issue with most air coolers. Also, SSDs will be VERY cheap on Black Friday. It’ll be easier to start with an SSD rather than buying one later on so you don’t have to transfer the OS. And as for your Green/black theme, you could get a Corsair 750d or the case I listed above, and add green LED’s and green fans. Glad you like the video card I mentioned. Hope I helped!

I would wait a little bit until R9 290s get aftermarket coolers and use one of those instead of GTX 770.
Change PSU to Seasonic USA unit.
If budget allows I would also change the motherboard to a ASUS ROG series board.

For the Mobo i'd recommend this one instead. Its a bit more reliable and its on a great sale right now:

I'd get a 80+ bronze PSU if I were you, it'll be a bit cheaper and work fine with a single GPU.

If you're going mostly for gaming, you really dont need an i7. An i5 will perform almost just as well in games.

And yes, the GPU is the current bottleneck, but its still a great GPU.

I'm digging the SSD on your shopping list. Look for some good deals this black friday.

EVGA still makes excellent PSUs. Also, Asus's ROG is a shitty bang for thebuck, excepting the Hero, of course.

Here's one I put together for 1313.81 & includes an SSD. The Graphics card you choose is not the bottleneck in the system, it's not having an SSD Also I would get alittle better cooler for an intel chip.

So for the build look pretty good. But by no means your GPU is a bottleneck. It's an amazing card, and you should consider the Asus version of it since it performs better and looks cooler in my opinion :) (Asus DirectCU II GTX 770).

I sorta altered your build into this. Up to you though to make the change. I added in a epic monitor, with a 1ms response time and a thin bezel. It's also wall mountable if you were wondering. In the build, I also included a Corsair H100i Closed Loop Watercooler. It's completely up to you if you don't want watercooling, but this thing is a beast. You can change the color of the waterblock which a lot of people didn't know (I didn't know until 3 months after I bought it :p). I assume you'll be overclocking since your getting the "k" version of the 4770k, and this thing will get the job done while looking epic. As you can see I also changed the case. It's a really nice case, and has a lot more quality than the Phantom, but if you dig the looks of the Phantom, go for it. I recently had a Phantom 630 but switched it out for a Corsair 750d because it just looked way to much like a robot. Anyways, I also included a SSD for the OS and your favorite programs. I hope you like it. If you have any questions just ask!

I'm not going to lie, originally I just kind of absent-mindedly picked the case, but I fell in love with the looks of the black-green one :3 Switched out the mobo like you suggested. Although I will eventually get an SSD, they're kind of pricey for me, I'm a steam-a-holic and as such I will just fill it up too quickly. I'll probably snag one on black friday nonetheless. As for the CPU cooler, I'm not going to be overclocking it significantly until it starts to drag on games, which I'd imagine won't be for awhile. So I sorta skimped on the cooler, as I figure it will be sufficient for now, and probably will get a fancy liquid cooled one when I feel the performance starting to lag. Swapped video cards as well
