Is this Alienware PC upgradeable and does it use non-proprietary parts? I want to upgrade my computer and do a lot of gaming.

What do you all think? Link is below:

Why do you need to upgrade that? It has great specs. I'd add an SSD, that's all I see missing.

The second one here is right out. Being an all-in-one, the PC guts are contained inside the monitor. Basically a feature limited laptop, in a different case.

Personally, I'd buy none of those 3. I'd rather build something.

Well...the question is:
Have you actually bought something yet? From your original description, this is not clear.

If you haven't, I would buy none of those 3.
Alienware? Slimline
All-In-One? Not a chance
The Dell? Parts probably need replacing soon (PSU, etc)

I haven't bought anything yet but very tempted to get the Alienware. If I buy on or before the 17th. they throw in a nice gaming mouse by Alienware. I was told by Dell that the parts in it should be somewhat upgradeable. I am mostly worried about being able to eventually upgrade the graphics card and add extra hard drives.

There is one photo on the link I provided that shows the inside of the tower.

Alienware:

Strike1 - generally more expensive for equivalent parts/performance
Strike 2 - Slimline case. You will be limited as to what graphics card you will be able to upgrade to. Not all will fit.

There are other Strikes left to be discovered.

Strike 3 - Is really just a rebranded Dell

Your best bet if you don't wanna build yourself is pick the right parts from an online retailer like Newegg and have them build it. Even including that charge you would still get a much better computer for less.

What is your budget? Also take a look at www.ncix.com that is where I just purchased my PC from and they do price matching. I have been ordering from there for over 10 years with no problems at all.

Agreed

Sadly the best thing I could tell you is to put away money and buy the whole thing new. I haven't had a "gaming" PC in about 6 years, and fully didn't decide I was gonna get one until 3 months ago. The wait is painstaking believe me lol....but doable :)
