hey guys i'm in the market for a new card and I want to get pretty good performance out of my games at 1080p, bf3, tomb raider, batman arkam origins, bf4...etc right now I'm looking at the gtx 760 but I might be willing to bump it up to a 780 if i have to, is it worth it to get a 780 for 1080p? can you guys give me your recommendations for cards? thanks, also how long do you think it will be before I need to upgrade from windows 7 to 8.1 for games? I'm trying to hold off as long as possible

I think personally gtx 780 is overkill for 1080p gaming I would reccomend R9-280x if your not on tight budget...but you could also choose gtx 770...maybe opt out for the 780 so that you can save money since you have no plans in higher resolutions in the future

If you want good performance for future games, i would advise against GTX 760. I think that the 770 is the best choice because it has great performance and its 350$, that is half the GTX780.
Hell, u can even SLI 770 and get performance WAAY above GTX 780 TI.
780 aint worth it i say.
PS: DONT do AMD, cuz Nvidia has Physx and Shadowplay and many others while AMD has nothing.

I am willing to spend up to about 380$ for my gpu so I've narrowed it down to either 280x or 770, leaning towards nvidia, right now I have a dynex 520 watt psu (it may not be official branded but it is a solid psu) which I will be trading for a corsair 750 watt soon here, so what do you guys think? 770 or 280x?

that's a no brainer, GTX 770. Also, you don't have to go for a Corsair 750W. You can go lower to a 550/600W which will run the video card just fine. To give you more options for PSUs.. XFX, Seasonic, Antec, Corsair are all good brands.

Your other components will probably bottleneck a beast card such as the GTX 770 though.

ehh I have an fx 8350 with room to overclock so I think I will be fine as far as bottlenecking goes, the bigger question is will windows 7 bottleneck me? after hearing about bf4 i really don't want to switch to 8.1 lol

that's a nice setup though!! the fx piledriver 8 cores are great cpus (bulldozer sucks), they don't bottleneck anything :D and the 7970 is a beast gpu too, right now my 8350 is getting held back by my 7770 lol what os you on?

lol dude i knew that would happen, I was running a rosewill 450 watt but i bought a 520 watt for a spare rig from best buy but recently I sold that pc to my friend so I put the 520 watt in there for now, I'm not garbage when it comes to computers don't worry lol
